Only You. Chapter: One

It was 6 years to the day since the Star Forge had been destroyed. Carth, Dustil, and Jami, formally known as Revan, were living on the planet Telos…

Jami woke with a gasp, her body forcing her to sit bolt upright. She could feel the sweat on her face as her surroundings finally came back into sight. It had been another nightmare.

She looked to her right and saw her sleeping husband beside her. A small smile appeared on her lips as her eyes trailed over him. Jami sighed, and pinched her hazel eyes shut for a few moments. The nightmares always came at the same time: the day the Star Forge had been destroyed. She knew that she had them, but when she woke up, Jami could no longer remember what they were about. She just knew that they were brutal.

It was possible that the Force was sending her messages of things that she had done when she was Revan, but if it was the Force, wouldn’t she be remembering them?

She felt a hand creep up her arm, and she gasped softly before looking over and seeing Carth’s soft brown eyes looking into hers. “What’s wrong?” he asked quietly, sitting up himself, his dark hair falling over his eyes the way that she had always loved it.

When she didn’t answer, he wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her into him. She let her head rest on his shoulder, her black hair spilling over his bare chest, and heard him sigh. “It’s that night again, isn’t it?” Jami nodded and his arms tightened. “Do you remember any of it?” Jami closed her eyes and tried to force any images back into her head. But she tried to hard.

She lost all consciousness, and was once more thrown into the world of her all too familiar nightmare. She was running, and she could sense people following close behind her. The sky above her was blood red, and she could hear the space ships firing at each other from down where she was. All she could think about was finding her family.

A bright green lightsaber hummed in her right hand, and with it, she blocked the blaster fire that was directed at her. When the fire cleared, she spared a glance behind her. There had to be at least twenty Dark Jedi behind her, and they were gaining. Jami was losing strength. Where the hell was Carth? And Dustil? What if the Sith had captured them? No, don’t think about that. If they were smart, they had taken off in the Ebon Hawk as soon as the fire started.

But she knew that they weren’t smart. They wouldn’t leave without her even if she told them to. But if she was going to be able to get out of the mess she was in, she would have to not worry about them, because if she did, all it would do would get them killed. And she didn’t want that.

So she allowed the Force to fill her up, taking in a deep breath of air, and then exhaling it, a more relaxed panic spread over her.

Her pace quickened, and she took a sharp turn to her left and jumped into a thick forest. Jami used her lightsaber to get most of the large branches out of her way. Then, in front of her, she saw the faint glow of several blue and green lightsabers.

A sigh of relief escaped her lips, and she ran towards the lights. When she got closer, she recognized some of the people holding the blades, but her focus wasn‘t good enough to see who they were. There were several other Jedi that she didn’t recognize as well, not that she would have been able to see them.

Jami slowed her pace when she got closer to them, and soon came to a halt. She immediately hugged one of them, feeling relief flow through her. Though the relief stopped when they didn’t hug her back. A frown settled on her face as she pulled back. None of the Jedi greeted her in any way. That was a bad sign. “What’s going on?” she just had time to say before the Sith had caught up to her. None of the people that she had trusted with her life attacked them, and in return, they didn’t attack them either.

A couple of the Dark Jedi took advantage of Jami’s surprise, and wrenched her lightsaber out of her grip. An angry feeling of betrayal fell over her as a few of the Sith drained almost all of the life out of her. In a matter of five minutes, Jami was on the ground bleeding. She coughed up some more blood, and spat it on the ground next to her. The one Sith with a mask took a step nearer to her, and knelt down beside her. His hands reached up to take his mask off, when--

“Jami! JAMI!” Carth’s voice was overlapping with Dustil’s as Jami was wrenched back into the real world. She was covered with sweat, and she could sense that there were more than just two heads looking down at her. By the feel beneath her, she was on the floor.

Her eyes slowly opened, and she saw five worried faces looking down at her. Carth, Dustil, Mission, Jolee, and Zaalbar. There was a pause as Jami looked from person to person, and then she sighed before pulling herself into a sitting position. While she had known each person there for a very long time, or at least it felt like a really long time, she rather wished that they weren’t al there staring at her.

“We couldn’t wake you up.” Dustil’s voice said in an almost hesitant way. Jami’s tired green eyes fell on him, and he looked back into them purposefully. “You were thrashing around, and we didn’t know what to do.”

“So you called everyone that you knew in town?” she asked more bitterly then she meant it.

“If we had called everyone we knew, then the Lieutenant of the Telos War Fleet would be in here as well.” Carth said in an attempt to lighten the mood. “And I would have done it too, except for the fact that I would have woken him up, and possibly lost my job.”

Jami finally gave up and let a small smile be seen. Then she looked at her Twi’lek friend and nodded. “How’ve you been Mission?”

“Better than you, I’d guess.” She started, a worried smile showing. “You’re lucky we’re here, really. Me and Big Z just got here about fifteen hours ago. We were near here, and we needed gas and supplies, and we figured we might as well stop in of you guys while we were here.”

Zaalbar roared a comment.

“Hey, take it easy, Big Z! I was just about to get to that!” Mission sighed and looked around nervously before continuing. “A few days ago, our ship was attacked. We don’t know by who, but they just came, shot at us, and then made the jump to hyperspace.”

Jami’s face scrunched into a frown as images from her nightmare flashed in and out of her vision. “Not to worry you, I mean, we’re fine…” she said in an attempt to reassure her. Jami felt herself nod, and she put her hand on Mission’s shoulder.

“You always have been, Mission.” she said confidently as Mission glowed.

She turned her attention to Jolee. “Nah, you don’t need to say anything to this old man. I know young people like you don’t like to hear advice, even when you really need it. How long have you been having these dreams anyway?” Damn. Jami had hoped that they would be able to put off that subject.

“This would be the sixth time I’ve had it.”

“And do you always thrash around like this?” She looked over at Carth, and he shook his head.

“No, this is the first time.” he said.

“Hmm.” Jolee said. “And do you remember what happens?”

Jami was tempted to lie and say no, but she knew that Jolee would be able to know if she was lying. “I can remember parts of it.” she told them. It wasn’t exactly a lie, because a part of her knew that when she’s running probably isn’t the start of it.

“And what happens?” Mission asked, eyes wide with curiosity.

“It’s… hard to explain.”

“Try.” Dustil piped up. She looked over at him, and his brown eyes looked into hers. Damn those eyes. They were just like Carth’s. “Please?”

Jami let out a sigh of resignation. “Well, what I can remember is that I’m running away from these Sith that are chasing me. I’m not sure where I am. And then I start thinking about how I’m trying to find you guys,” she gestured to Carth and Dustil, “but I don’t know where you are. And then I run into a forest and find other Jedi. But they don’t help me at all. They just watch as the Sith pretty much torture me. Then one of the Sith step towards me, and he has a mask on, and he was just about to take it off when I woke up.”

No one spoke for a while after that. It was Jolee that finally broke the silence. “Do you think that this is a Force premonition?”

Jami didn’t answer, but she desperately hoped not. There were a few more moments of silence before she stood up and started walking out of the room, muttering something about how it was too hot for her taste.

If the Exile were hard of hearing...

Atton: "Mical's a spy!"

Exile: "Mical has pie?!  Where?!"

Six years after the destruction of the Star Forge: On the anniversary of the destruction of the Star Forge, Revan has her annual nightmare, but there is more than just dreams evil to fight…

The piece has some interesting moments. It does tend to drag a bit, but that is because it doesn’t flow perfectly. But that is an editing problem.

Please, keep it up.
