Why did you send my story or art back?

We want to make sure we have the best collection of KOTOR fan art and stories, and to do this we have a set of submission guidelines, and a moderation system. If we need to return your item to you we'll leave you a note to let you know why.

If we returned your item it's usually for one of the following reasons.

Spelling, grammar, punctuation - We won't accept things that haven't been corrected. Use your spelling and grammar checker in your favourite word processor. Lots of people like to use a beta reader - someone who looks it over before you send it out.

It's tiny! If you're inspired to write haiku, drabbles, or you're in the habit of writing really short chapters, that's great -- but don't submit them one at a time, please.

It's a script/chat transcript style story - They're usually not very good anyway. We may make an exception for something that is really very good, but normally it's lazy writing. Try writing more than just dialogue.

It's a plain retelling of the game - If you're just writing out game dialogue without adding your own creativity to it, it's boring. Try adding things like the characters' thoughts, flashbacks, or added extras -- heaps of stuff must have happened on board the Hawk that we didn't see. Surely there's something interesting you can add?

It's songfic - Sorry, but we will no longer accept 'lazy' songfic where large clods of the story are made of lyrics. It's OK to use song lyrics in parts for effect and it's certainly fine to be inspired by a song when you're writing, but it's not OK to have big bits of your story made up of lyrics you didn't even write yourself.

It's copied from someplace else - This includes images you did not draw, or text you did not write. Plagiarism is a very serious offence on this site and we may ban you if you are caught passing off someone else's work as your own.

It's a doodled drawing or on lined paper - That's not enough effort.

It's a screenshot from the game or a 'lazy' photomanip - Neither is that. Very good photomanips that are creative and show some effort might get a pass. Your screencap of Malak with a poorly Photoshopped bra is probably not going to cut it.

It might not be suitable for all ages - This site is aimed at ages 13 and up. While some adult concepts and themes are acceptable, excessive violence, swearing, or sex will not be permitted on this site. It is always up to the mods' discretion to determine what constitutes 'excessive.'
