It came from Nar Shaddaa: Chapter 5

Sasha!

Sasha awoke from her light sleep. She sat up and looked around the dimly lit slave quarters. She thought she had heard someone call her name, but all the other slaves were asleep.

At that moment Sasha felt a cold hand snap around her mouth and another grab the front of her tunic. She struggled for a moment but was soon overtaken and pulled out of bed and under the cot. She lay facing up at the rusted springs of her cot. She struggled to turn her head to see who had overpowered her. She tried desperately to free herself of her captors grasp.

'Mmmphh!'

'Shhh! Do you want the whole town to hear you?'

Sasha instantly grew quiet and still. The captor released her grip and Sasha starred strait up at the springs. 'What do you want Qwert?'

'Listen,' Qwert sighed, 'I'm sorry, maybe shouldn't have said all that Bantha fodder about your family. I was just really upset that you wouldn't listen to me!'

'Maybe?'

'Defiantly...I defiantly shouldn't have said those things.'

Sasha crossed her arms and looked away. 'Sasha, do you remember how I said I found a way to escape when the opportunity presented itself?'

'Do you remember how I said you would have to be crazy to try a plan like that?'

'Well call me crazy.'

Sasha whipped her head around, 'You didn't!'

'What can I say the opportunity presented itself?'

'How did you do it?'

'Tubla just had his men schedule a delivery of a shipload of kolto...to a Jedi!'

Sasha's eyes lit up. 'A Jedi!'

Qwert nodded, 'I left a strong worded message from the Jedi on Tubla's desk. He found it about five minutes ago...he's leaving Sasha.'

Sasha's face drew gloomy once again. 'We're leaving? Now the Jedi will never find us!'

'No Sasha! Tubla's leaving, we're not.'

Sasha had to think about what Qwert was saying. Then she remembered Qwert's plan, an escape someone would have to be mad to attempt. It was a good thing Qwert was just crazy enough to go through with it, and apparently Sasha was as well.

The two young women made it out the window, falling three stories into a trash heap below, just in time to see the lights flicker on from the window they leaped from...

---------------

'Sasha!'

Sasha, who had been crouched behind Qwert as she desperately tried to talk her way out of the current situation, snapped to attention. She looked over at Dustil. 'Yes?' She whispered under her breath.

'I don't know how to explain this, but Qwert is telling us to run.' Dustil said crouching beside her.

'NO! I can't leave without her.'

'She needs our cooperation. I...I can feel it?' Dustil said unbelievingly, looking in wonder at the woman standing in front of him. She seemed so overwhelmed I the face of the bounty hunters, how could she survive if they ran?

'We're to be a distraction.' Sasha suddenly realized.

'WE? What makes you think...' Dustil stopped short; what was he about to say? Was he going to be a Jedi or a Sith? What if this woman and her 'sister' had evil intentions? Could he take a chance with them? Could he really call himself a Jedi if he didn't? He looked down at Sasha, who in turn looked at him with fear in her eyes. They needed him.

Dustil grabbed Sasha's wrist and pulled her up off the ground. This sudden movement alerted one of the bounty hunters. He spun around and started firing. Dustil quickly drew his lightsaber in his left hand, still holding Sasha's wrist in his right, and deflected the blaster fire, gradually backing up the bounty hunter against the wall, holding him at saber point. The bounty hunter dropped his weapon. At this point, one of his accomplices walked up undetected behind Dustil, firing and hitting him in the shoulder.

Dustil cried out, releasing Sasha's wrist. Sasha turned and peered down the barrel of the second bounty hunters barrel. Dustil held the lightsaber at the neck of the first bounty hunter with one hand and held his shoulder with the other. 'No where to run now, schutta.'

At that, Sasha whipped out the rusted blaster. Before Dustil could blink, Sasha had shot the bounty hunter in the knee. While he bent down to nurse his wound, Sasha brought the handle of the blaster crashing down on the back of his head. The bounty hunter let out a cry and crumpled to the ground.

Sasha looked down on the man in disgust, 'I AM NOT A SCHUTTA!' She peered up at Dustil, whose mouth hung open in disbelief, just in time to see the first bounty hunter drop his blaster and shrink out the door.

'Great you let him get away!' Sasha sighed. Dustil quickly glanced over to the wall, then back to Sasha. He was in shock.

'How...how did you...' Dustil's question was interrupted by a scream.

'Qwert!' Sasha ran over to where Qwert had crumpled to the floor. She bent down beside her guardian and tried desperately to find out what had happened. Qwert let out a sort of gurgling noise and fell all the way to the floor. Dustil watched as the remaining bounty hunter slid the rusted blaster out of Sasha's holster. Dustil tried to move, but found himself paralyzed, completely frozen. Someone, though he couldn't see who, had put him into a stasis.

With Qwert unconscious and Dustil paralyzed, the bounty hunter began to slowly walk toward Sasha. Sasha stood and began backing against the wall, she reached for her blaster, but found it to be missing. She looked to Dustil, imploring him for help, but soon realized that he too, was incapacitated. She had her back to the wall and began to shrink to the floor.

Dustil watched in horror, she couldn't have been a day over sixteen, and she was about to die. Even though she was a complete stranger, Dustil was mortified he could do nothing to help. And Qwert! She was just a few years younger than him, lying there in a pool of her own blood, her life force draining away by the second. Yet even in this state of near hopelessness, she almost seemed...powerful. Dustil didn't understand. She was dying, and yet, she seemed to grow stronger. He could feel her presence through the force more now than ever he had before.

His eyes were fixated on Qwert as the bounty hunter raised the blaster to Sasha's head. He tightened and began to contract the muscle that would squeeze the trigger, ending Sasha's life.

OH! The suspense is killing me, I swear! That was really well-done. Well-written, excellent descriptions and action. I liked the flashback, good way to introduce their relationship and the transition back into the story was smooth. You are very talented at foreshadowing and building tension. Good job!
