Kavar's Trial.

Kavar couldn't explain what it was that had drawn him to Onderon. Perhaps he felt he had to see Dxun and justify his reasoning for not joining up with the Republic during the Wars. Maybe he thought he could understand why so many bright, young Jedi left and never returned. Either way, it didn't matter, he was here and that was what mattered.

Kavar had only meant for Onderon to be a quick stop on his way to Dxun. However, while he was wandering the streets of Iziz looking for the blasted cantina he met the young Queen. At the time he hadn't known who she was, but she seemed familiar somehow. They talked for a while wandering the market square, and after a time she asked him to join him for dinner. He had been short on Credits at the time and still couldn't find that Force forsaken cantina, so he accepted.

Unbeknownst to Kavar, however, Talia knew exactly who he was. When she lead him to the Palace, she could tell he was surprised even though he tried to hide it. When she arrived at the dinner table wearing her most Regal dress Kavar was absolutely shocked, she didn't need to sense his emotions to know that.

During dinner, Queen and Jedi talked about the situation on Onderon. Talia told Kavar about the trouble General Vaklu, her cousin, was causing. She told him that there had been regular death threats directed at her, which was why she had been in disguise when they met. She had a feeling Vaklu was behind it because, not only did he oppose her every decision, but he was also trying to gather enough support in the Parliament to pass bills that gave himself greater power.

During the entire conversation, Kavar probed her emotions trying to tell if she was telling the truth. Although he could tell everything she said was true, he sensed there was something she wasn't telling him.

"There is something you're not telling me." He said, cutting Talia off in mid sentence.

"Did you use your Jedi senses to figure that out Kavar?" She asked.

Kavar was shocked, he hadn't told her he was a Jedi. In fact he had hidden it as much as possible. "How did you know?" He asked her, trying to get a better read on her, but she was somehow blocking her mind form his.

"I just do." She spoke, and Kavar let it drop. He could tell she would tell him when she was ready.

And so Kavar's new life began, the life of a bodyguard. Over the next few months whenever Talia gave speeches there was always a mysterious figure standing just in the shadows. Those that met him said he was strange, always spoke in riddles and seemed to have the ability to read minds and predict the future.

During their time together, Kavar learned a lot about Talia. He learned about Onderon's histories, lores, myths and legends. He helped her gain the support of Officers that held key areas within Iziz and helped train her and her personal guards in the ways of melee combat.

Many times he contemplated leaving and looking for the rest of the Jedi, but always would recieve a vision from the Force telling him to stay where he was. One such vision warned of an impending terrosist attack that would claim the life of Talia. He had done all he could, but the explosion still went off. Talia was unhurt, however the decoy had been killed. Not long after this incident, people began speaking of open rebellions and Vaklu began gaining even more power.

It was during this time when Talia told Kavar why she really wanted him to stay. She told him how she had known who he was when they met, how she had known he was a Jedi, everything.

"I'm your sister Kavar," She said one day when they were having a conversation about their families.

"Wh, what?!" He asked totally stunned. "How?"

"Mother and Father tried to go on after the Jedi took you away, but they had always wanted children." She began. "After ten years though... they realized you wouldn't be able to take your place as King if you were with the Jedi... they decided to have another child. Me."

"The Jedi never told me where I was born," Kavar said, still trying to get over what he was hearing. "They said that if I couldn't remember it was better. Jedi are allowed no attachments."

"You... you didn't even know where you were born?" She asked, now it was her who was shocked. She had heard some crazy poo doo about the Jedi, but this was definately the craziest. "Kavar, you are the rightful ruler of Onderon."

"No... sister... Ruling Onderon is your destiny, not mine." Kavar said immediately. "My destiny is to protect you, I see that now. Somehow I've always known who you were, but I just couldn't see what was plain in my face."

"So... you believe me?" She asked.

"For some reason, yes," He replied. "It seems so obvious now, and it explains a lot."

"Like what?" She asked.

"Like how you blocked off your mind, how you read mine, how you can always tell what others are thinking." Kavar began. "Now, everything makes sense..."

It was less than a week later when Kavar sensed the first signs of danger, a growing disturbance in the Force. He could tell Vaklu was planning something, and sensed the threat of the Dark Side closing around Onderon. Almost every night Kavar had to eliminate assassins that managed to breach Palace Security. No matter how many he killed though, he never found out where they were entering from, and they never stopped coming.

Even as the darkness was closing in in Iziz, Kavar sensed an even greater darkness growing in the Galaxy. He could sense the deaths of numerous Jedi. Kataar had been the worst, the death he felt nearly killed him. And even after that, when it seemed like all the other Jedi were dead, Kavar could still feel the deaths. Most recently had been Zez-kai Ell, one of Kavar's friends. One of the only Council members who accepted the fact that the Jedi were partially to blame for Revan's fall, and the fall of all his followers.

One day, Kavar felt the darkness arrive in Iziz. Not too long after that, he recieved word that the man he had been seeking was actually here, on Onderon, looking for him. Their meeting had been brief, Vaklu's kath hound, Colonal Tobin, had interupted it and Kavar was forced to flee. He learned after arriving back at the Palace that his pupil had left the city, but not before killing nearly two dozen soldiers and half a dozen turrets lining the exit to the docking bays.

The weeks that followed were the worst by far. The attacks against the Queen had been stepped up, so much that she feared leaving the Palace, even in disguise. Vaklu's men began preparing for war and Kavar knew he had no choice but to contact the Mandalorians on Dxun so they could contact his pupil. He didn't realize until too late that this was what his pupil wanted the whole time.

When he heard that a Basalisk War Droid had landed in the Merchant Quarter of Iziz, Kavar was pleased that his pupil had found a way into the battlefield. However, reports came in just seconds later that two unkown Jedi and a Mandalorian were killing Talia's soldiers. A few minutes later the reports told of an assault on the Sky Ramp, lead by the Jedi. Kavar was shocked, why was his student attacking the Queen? Surely he understood that Vaklu was not fit to rule!

Kavar had planned to go and meet his former student in combat, but then Vaklu's Sith solders and beasts breached the main Palace gate, forcing Talia's troops back to the trown room. Talia's troopers were swiftly defeated by the Jedi, as were the Sith. Until finally, only Vaklu's soldiers lived. Vaklu and his men stormed the thrown room, leaving Kavar to defend the Queen against both Vaklu and his apprentice.

"We trained you better than this," Kavar said when he was locked into combat with his former student. "How can you fight for this animal!?"

"Vaklu helped me get what I wanted," His pupil began. "Your death."

"Why? Why do you seek to destroy the Order?" Kavar asked, switching to a more aggressive form known as Juyo.

"Ha, Kavar, you seek to distract me with words while you change forms. Most intersting. All the others did was show me their forms of choice and allow me to destroy them. You always were one of the smarter ones though." Kavar watched in horror as his former apprentice moved into a graceful defensive stance in the Makashi form, then proceded to include elements of his Juyo form into it as well.

"I see exile hasn't dulled your abilities," Kavar said, switching into the Ataru form. "But you cannot win."

"Vrook said the same thing, before I seperated his hypocritical head from its shoulders. And now, Kavar, you shall feel the wrath of the Dark Side." Kavar could only watch in horror as Talia was caught in a Force Grip and tossed into a pillar. As she attempted to get up, both she and Kavar were hit with Force Lightning. General Vaklu then pulled his Onderon Repeating Carbine and shot Talia in the head.

Vaklu's action sent Kavar into a rage, he no longer cared about his own life. All he wanted to do at that point was slice Vaklu apart limb by limb. He executed a perfect Force jump that landed him right in Vaklu's face.

"For my sister," He growled before plunging his saber into Vaklu's stomach. Kavar's crazed expression was the last thing Vaklu saw before falling to his knees and dying.

"Well done Kavar. You have helped me more than you know."

Kavar turned at the sound of his pupil's mocking voice.

"You're next, Sithspawn!" Kavar yelled before charging, saber held in the air, at his opponent. However, in his blind, anger filled rage, Kavar had lost his deep connection to the Force. He didn't notice the Vaklu soldiers raise thier weapons, he didn't sense them aim for his back. And he didn't feel the pain as half a dozen red points of light collided with his back. One second he was charging, the next he was falling, feeling his essence leaving his body to join with the Force he had served for so long.

Meh. Okay. It started off good and I liked the initial descriptions but the story seemed rushed. We rush through the time between Kavar meeting Talia and the Exile first arriving on Onderon, we also rush through the time betweeh that the Exile's second arrival. I also found it distracting how Kavar kept switching forms. While that's possible in the game canonically most Jedi stick to one form or the other mostly.

With some added detail between main events and a few edits though, it could be pretty good.

I'm always interested in seeing how people explain the relationship between Talia and Kavar.
