Jedi Revan Superstar: Glory On Their Minds

Author's note

Voila, my first songfic :). I recently saw the Jesus Christ Superstar movie (1973 production), and immediately became a fan. As I was re-watching it shortly afterwards, the opening song "Heaven On Their Minds" somehow clicked in my head: As the voice of Malak as he realises his best friend is on the wrong path. I feel the tone of that song is perfect for the tragedy of it all, and the desperation a slipping Jedi might feel. If you're not familiar with the song, you can hear it on youtube.com.

MALAK:

My mind is clearer now
At last, all too well
I can see where we all soon will be
If you strip away
The myth from the man
You will see where we all soon will be
Revan!

You've started to believe the things they say of you
You really do believe the old Sith tales are true
And all the good you've done will soon get swept away
Power's begun to matter more than saving the day

Listen Revan, I don't like what I see
All I ask is that you listen to me
And remember, I've been your right hand man all along
You have set the Rim on fire
You feel the Core deserves your ire
And it will hurt you when you find you're wrong

I remember when this whole thing began
No talk of Lordship then, we called you a man
And believe me, my admiration for you hasn't died
But every goal you have today
Will get twisted 'round some other way
And you're giving in to your dark side

Dantooine, your famous son
Should have stayed a great unknown
Stayed a Jedi, with a hood
He'd have done good
Diplomacy, not conquest
would have suited Revan best
He'd have caused nobody harm
No one alarm

Listen Revan, don't you care for the Light?
Don't you remember why we fought the good fight?
We are Jedi Knights, have you forgotten the oaths that we took?
I am frightened by the Dark
For it has lit in us a spark
Which will burn us if we go too far
If we go too far

Listen Revan to the warning I give
Please remember that I want us to live
But it's sad to see your darkness deepening with every hour
All your followers are blind
Too much glory on their minds
It was wonderful but now it's sour
Yes, it's all gone sour

Listen Revan to the warning I give
Please remember that I want us to live
So come on, come on
He won't listen to me . . .
Come on and listen, listen to me . . .
Come on and listen to me . . .

Haha, excellent! JCS is my favourite musical of all time. This happens to be one of my favourite bits (and I know all of Judas' parts... I wonder what that says about me), so extra thumbs up.

 Excellent.

Oh, this is spectacular!!! I love Jesus Christ Superstar (as well as everything else Andrew Lloyd Webber). Bravo! Bravissimo!!! You really did an awesome job.

Marvellous! *applause* Poor Malak, a very touching and compelling song -- what a shame Reven didn't hear or listen.

Oh my gawd, never thought I'd see the day Star Wars mixed with my favorite musical of all time (and i happen to know all the songs, and Judas is my favorite role which I hope to star in). I hope you make more so you can have the complete musical.
