'Exile's Revenge' Chapter 2: Revan's Rebellion begins

Darth Revan sat in the command chair of his office deep within the walls of his Palace. Kilvar VI was the planet he had chosen so long ago to be his stronghold. The rough, mountainous terrain made defending the Palace against ground assault exceptionally easy, and the fact that Revan had built many outposts and had many heavy weapons emplacements made invasion that much harder. The asteroids surrounding the planet made it nearly impossible to jump fleets near enough to surprise the defence force posted around Kilvar VI and even if enemy fleets did manage to come close, there was an extensive minefield inside the asteroid field.

It was from this location that Revan commanded his legions of Sith warriors, as well as his formidable navy, consisting mainly of Leviathan-class cruisers from the Star Forge. Unfortunately, since he was in the Unknown Regions, and the Forge had been lost to him, he no longer had schematics for the Leviathans. The ships provided by the 'True' Sith had their uses though, even if they were inferior to the ships in his personal fleet. He could almost hear his old Master speak the words "It is battle that strengthens us, and isolation that weakens us, erodes us." She had said this on many occasions during his time training under her, and it was something he never forgot...it also happened to be true. The 'True' Sith had been isolated for hundreds of years, and in that time they had advanced slower than the rest of the Galaxy because they didn't need to advance any faster. 'The one good thing about the Republic,' Revan thought 'Is that there are so many different species working together. So many points of view. That is the Republic's strength, and that is what will allow them to endure for thousands of years to come.'

It had been just under five years since the former Dark Lord had left Republic space, searching for answers. When his broken memories had brought him to Zoist, he discovered that the Sith species wasn't as extinct as the Republic thought it was. In fact, they still controlled most of the systems in the former Sith Empire, including resources, shipyards, and training facilities. Revan had received a very warm welcome from the current Dark Lord, Darth Necros, who was surprised to see Revan alive again. News had traveled to Zoist that Revan had died in a Jedi ambush. Revan soon set the record straight, explaining how Malak had betrayed him, and how the Jedi had captured him, erased his memories, except the ones they needed, and gave him a new identity. He then told the story of how he was forced to relocate the Star Maps, traveling to Tatooine, Manaan, and Kashyyyk before being captured by Saul Karath, the Commander of the Sith Forces, second only to Malak. During his and his crew's escape from Karath's flagship, the Leviathan, Revan was confronted by Malak, who told him that he wasn't Daniel Kiltar, a Republic soldier and Jedi guardian, but in fact Darth Revan, powerful Jedi Knight turned most powerful Sith Lord in centuries. Revan continued his tale, telling the Sith of his visit to their homeword, Korriban. He told them how he had to not only find the Star Map on a world full of enemies, but also deal with the loss of Bastila Shan...his love. After that he went to the Star Forge, which he never would've found in the first place if the Sith hadn't lead him to the first clue. He then told them how he fought his way through hordes of enemies, both living and droid, on his way to the final confrontation with his former apprentice. He killed Malak, obviously, and claimed his rightful place as Dark Lord. However, memories kept flooding back, and he had to leave for a while to sort everything out. That was when the first rebellions began on Korriban and other Sith controlled worlds. Without a strong leader the different factions within Revan's Sith Empire turned on each other, each one trying to become the most powerful, the strongest member of each faction wanting to become the new Dark Lord. Revan had just enough time to collect his personal guard and escape before most of the Empire was in ruins. Unfortunately, Bastila had been left on Korriban with a group of loyal Sith trying to restore order.

Again Revan was forced to continue a mission without his beloved Bastila, of course the Sith thought love was the worst emotion possible because it could lead to mercy, but Revan knew that love was what made he and Bastila so powerful. For nearly half a year he searched for his old outposts, only managing to locate a fraction of those he could remember. Eventually Bastila caught up to his fleet with the remnants of hers.

"Bastila! You're alive!" Were the first words out of his mouth when her flagship was within hailing range.

"Of course I am!" She replied, anger in her voice "What? Did you think you could lose me that easily?"

"Apprentice, report to my quarters immediately." Revan said, trying to make it sound like she was going to be punished for the benefit of his crew. Of course he had other plans for her, but they didn't need to know that.

"Of course, my Lord." She replied, the sarcasm very thinly veiled.

It had taken less than twenty minutes for her shuttle to arrive on Revan's flagship, the Relentless, just enough time to make a quick dinner for two. He was changing into more casual clothes than his armor when she arrived.

"Ah, dinner. How quaint." She said when she entered the room. "You ABANDON ME and I get dinner as compensation?!"

"Well, dinner was only going to be the first part," Revan began. "After that, I was thinking maybe we could...discuss what happened on Korriban?" He had intended the last comment as a joke, but Bastila wasn't in the mood.

"YOU INSEFFERABLE NERF-HEARDER!!" She roared "WHERE THE HELL HAVE YOU BEEN?!! MOST OF MY FLEET WAS DESTROYED DURING THE CIVIL WAR ON KORRIBAN, THOSE OF US THAT SURVIVED HAVE BEEN CHASED ALL ACROSS THE OUTER RIM! SIX MONTHS REVAN, SIX MONTHS..." She was unable to continue her rant because her lips were otherwise occupied. She shoved Revan off.

"Don't think that's going to work!" She said.

"You know you don't mean that, Bastila." Revan replied. "It's been six months, we can continue this argument in the morning if you wish, but tonight..."

"Ohh, I hate you sometimes Revan." She replied.

"I know, it's where you get your power." He responded, heading off to his bedroom with Bastila.

It had only been a few weeks later when their combined fleet arrived on Zoist, and although he had the greatest respect for Darth Necros, Revan knew that now, nearly four years later, it would be time to lead his own rebellion and destroy the 'True' Sith once and for all. 'True Sith', the phrase burned in his mouth, as if just because their species was called the Sith that made them better somehow. Sure they were born with a huge midichlorian count, and they had extraordinary Dark Side powers, but Revan was just as powerful as many of them, he had even outsparred Darth Necros a few times. Their inbred resistance to the Force did not protect them from blasters, explosions... or lightsabers, and since Revan had the superior fleet, and his intimate knowledge of tactics and strategy, the Force wouldn't need to play to much of a role in the coming war. According to his numerous simulations, Revan determined that his Leviathans could easily match two of the Sith's Destructor-class battleships.

''They're not going to cause much destruction with those armaments.'' He had commented when he first saw the schematics years ago. The Sith engineers had looked surprised when he made the comment, but having lived the last centuries in isolation they wouldn't know too much about modern starships. Even if one of his fleets was destroyed and it did come down to ground combat, he had legions on Dark Jedi under his command, as well as many Sith Assassination squads. Also the bulk of his regular soldiers had extensive combat training, and even learned Echani fighting styles for the inevitable melee combat that they would see against the warriors of the Sith.

All that needed to be done was pick the first target, and begin the invasion. Of course this was one of the hardest parts of planning a war. Of the two Sith Lords whose territory bordered Revan's, Darth Farsath had the more powerful forces, however Darth Sakora's territory held many strategic planets including planets rich with minerals and fuel that Revan would need to continue the war. Revan figured he probably could pull off a multi-pronged attack and hit both at once, but it was risky. His moles didn't have exact figures of enemy numbers because all of the Sith Lords had personal bodyguard units, both in space and on the ground. If either of the other two had reserves as large as Revan's then he would have trouble, but he doubted they did. Farsath liked making a public display of his might and Revan doubted that he would keep many units hidden, while Sakora was too trusting of the other Sith, and felt like there should be no secrets between them.

However, as Revan sat in his commander chair considering the intellegance he had, the decision on who he would attack first was taken out of his hands.

"My Lord," Revan's comm officer came up in the holo-display "Darth Farsath began an invasion into Darth Sakora's territory early today. Sakora requests assistance immediately"

Revan couldn't believe his luck, not only was Sakora being attacked by Farsath, but the trusting fool had asked Revan for help. This would allow him to figure out the strength of Sakora's military and destroy Farsath's completely.

"Admiral Graf and General Naus, report to my command room now." Revan called through the comm unit when he heard the news.

The highest ranking officers in Revan's military entered less than five minutes later.

"Yes my Lord?" They said upon entering the large room.

"Admiral, General come over here." Revan called from the tactical display unit in the middle of the room. "I have just been informed that Darth Farsath has launched an invasion into Darth Sakora's territory. Intellegance suggests that Farsath's forces are entering through these two corridors." Revan pointed along two lines he had drawn on the TDU. "Sakora's forces are engaged here, in orbit around Velnor III. Admiral, send the 1st and 2nd attack groups to assist, General send the 4th Infantry division, and the 78th Armor division to accompany the 1st. And the 92nd Infantry and the 35th Combined with the 2nd."

"Sir, don't you think we should send in more units?" General Naus asked.

"General we promised to assist, not fight the war for them," Revan began. "And your infantry should be held in reserve, any planet that already has enemy soldiers on it should be bombarded."

"So then what's the point of bringing them?" Admiral Graf asked. "We could use the space they would take up for supplies and ammunition."

"Admiral, every Fleet should have ground units to accompany it, even if they aren't planning for a ground battle." Revan said truning to face the map again. "Besides, I will be assigning Army units to serve inside each of the Fleets, the soldiers that I have just assigned to those two fleets will remain part of their Fleet until the end. The dedicated soldier transports should also be integrated into the Navy, this should have been done years ago."

"Of course, Sir." Graf replied.

"Go now, both of you, begin the preparations. I want those ships gone in two days." Revan ordered. "I'll have full details of the transfers by then. Dismissed." The two soldiers exited the command room and Revan turned back to planning the war.

"Is everything ready?" Darth Farsath asked.

"Yes, Revan believes that my forces are being overwhelmed by yours right now." Darth Sakora answered.

"Good, everything is going as Darth Necros predicted, soon the traitor will be eliminated."

finally something about the unknown regions and the "true sith". I didnt really expect them to be human, as in Kotor it said that true sith are a species, and recent sith are followers of an ideal. Anyway, good story!
Cant wait to see more!

I should probably clear this up in a later chapter, but the structure of the True Sith government, in this story, is a feudal system. The Dark Lord, Darth Necros, is the overall ruler and holds the largest territory. there are nearly a dozen other Sith Lords that each manage territory throughout the Sith Empire, but Necros is the overall leader. and only Revan's Sith are human, the True Sith are a species, though some of the underlings are various different species.
